Frequently Asked Questions Q:
How do I measure for the appropriate size of drapery rod? A:
Rule of thumb is to take the window width and add 6” to each side for
the drapery rod to block out as much light as possible.
This, of course, can only be used if there are no obstructions on
either side of window.
When using this as a rule of thumb, make sure a side-wall or a
doorway is not in the way. Q:
What usually determines a wall mounted or ceiling mounted rod? A:
There are many variables that determine whether a drapery and rod are wall
mounted or ceiling mounted.
Wall mounted are usually preferred when the ceilings are taller
that 8’.
Wall mounting is also more flexible for mounting purposes.
For instance, the rod can be hung at a height that allows the drape
to hang at the desired length, i.e., just off the top of the HVAC unit.
Secondly,
some franchises please reference or ask Rod Concepts to reference the
Franchise standards.
Some franchises require the first floor to be wall mounted and all
other floors to be ceiling mounted. Q:
What is the difference between ball-bearing carriers and button-glides, or
(friction glides), and where are they used? A:
Ball-bearing carriers are larger and heavier glides that are mainly used
for over-draperies, draperies with blackout lining.
The weight of the drape allows the ball-bearings to slide freely
across the rod.
The Button-glides, or friction glides are lighter weight and also
take less weight from the window treatment to allow them to work properly.
These are best used with lighter window treatment such as window
sheers.
*Please reference our parts list in the Contract System Parts section of the web site. Q:
How much should I pay for installation? A:
Installation is usually quoted by the foot or by each piece.
For instance, a room with a 72” drapery rod, 72” sheer rod, and
72” valance is quoted as 18 feet of product to be installed.
Installation charges will also vary depending on what type of wall
the installer is attaching the brackets to, i.e. concrete, sheetrock, etc…
For all installation needs and pricing, please see our
Feedback
section of the
website.
*Our
professional installers will measure and guarantee their workmanship. Q:
What type of rod do I need for a stationary side panel?
A: Stationary side panels use an standard 18” or 24" rod. Depending on the width of the non-stationary drapery, the rod will also need to be larger for the non-stationary drapery to stack properly behind the side panels, as the window treatment is open. This can be wall-mounted or ceiling mounted, depending on the other window treatment.
Q:

However, the Contract System Rods represent the latest and most up-to-date rods on the market for Hotels, Motels, Offices, Schools, and Healthcare.
